True, it serves only a limited and tight circle of rich folks, but, if you happen to be one, i.e. a strong man who’s in the market for a mighty, sleek and edgy super sedan with a design to die for, comfort level of the elite and tons of all the latest technological features and safety equipment, then this beautiful monster might be right up your alley. The latest luxury offering from Cadillac is not just a solid (and lower-priced) competition for the Europeans, it’s actually one of the best in the segment, if not THE best. We have a sedan super-star in our hands, a world-class premium vehicle, something the US manufacturers didn’t have for quite a long time. The Cadillac CTS-V 2016 is, hands down, the most powerful car from GM’s luxury brand, and even the entry-level trim will knock you off your feet with class-leading HP and acceleration. The brand-new edition is 25% more responsive and stronger than the previous model. The heavy use of aluminum allowed the engineers to drop 100 pounds, and that means the current gen is much quicker in those corners and better in terms of mileage.
Cadillac CTS-V 2016 – Class-Leading Performance
The powertrain line-up consists of only one engine, but it’s more than capable of beating the German rivals. It’s a slightly tweaked edition of the same mighty turbocharged (or, should I say, supercharged) 6.2-lit V8 that’s under the hood of the latest Corvette Z06. This monster-of-an-engine pumps out 640 Horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque, which is pretty impressive, if you ask me. Furthermore, the Cadillac CTS-V 2016 comes with a new 8-speed automatic transmission and is RWD (rear-wheel drive). Plus, you’ve got a choice between 4 drive modes: Snow, Tour, Sport and Track, and they all come with unique preset amounts of throttle, suspension, steering and transmission calibration. As mentioned above, when it comes to acceleration, the brand-new Caddy is the champ in the segment: the luxury sedan sizzles from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds, which is absolutely amazing.
Decent Fuel-Efficiency & Top-Notch Luxury
As for fuel-efficiency, the powertrain returns 21 miles per gallon on the highway and 14MPG in the city (17MPG combined), which is quite alright for a car like that. The previous edition could boast only 14MPG of combined driving, so, the 2016 model is a big step forward. On the road the Cadillac CTS-V 2016 performs handsomely, with superb noise reduction and responsive steering. The cabin is lined in leather, which adds to the overall luxurious picture. If you want, you can go for the sporty Recaro seats and turn the classy sedan into a race-track monster. At the end of the day, I don’t really want to talk about the weak sides of this gorgeous steel horse, because, honestly, there aren’t any (at least nothing major).
